World Championships, Konya, Turkey
October 2022
Georgie was recently selected to represent Australia (U21 -55kg kumite category) at the World Karate Championships in Turkey. Georgie has been working very hard for many years firstly to be selected (only the best one from each country) and secondly to be competitive.
Georgie started in the 7-9 yo class which is our breeding ground for future champions!! In order to qualify, Georgie won the State titles, Australian championships, Oceania championship and was winner in Berlin and runner up in Birmingham recently.
Sensei Robyn was head coach for the tour and Sensei Sean attended as a referee.
Georgie had a difficult draw with Turkey (hometown advantage) in round 1. Sensei Sean passed his final qualification to be a WKF referee in Kata and Kumite. He is now the highest ranking referee and is chair of the QLD referee council.
