Queensland State Championships 2010

3 Gold, 2 Silver, 1 Bronze

Seiha Karate had 6 competitors in the recent Queensland State Championships and we achieved great results for a small organization. Everyone competed with spirit, and the medal tally of 3 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze was testimony to the extra effort made in the lead up to the championships.

A special mention goes to Andres Rojas for 2 gold medals in his individual kata events, Katrina Lang for 2 silver medals in her individual sparring events and Jamie Miller for winning bronze in his first ever competition despite a hiccup in the early rounds.

Congratulations to Katrina Lang who has been selected to represent Queensland at the upcoming Australian Championships.

Grading

21 April / 2010

Congratulations to the members who participated in the recent grading. For some, it was the first of many gradings to come. The grading system is designed so that by the time you reach blackbelt you will have a comprehensive knowledge of the five Pinan kata and their applications, learn to defend yourself against grabs and attacks, show strength and ability in basics and also be able to hold your own in a sparring situation.
